cmus should show all UTF-8 tags correctly; however, it is common for
tags to contain data in other encodings (e.g. in ex-USSR, CP1251 is
often encountered). If you do not want to re-tag your music with a
tagger that supports Unicode properly, you can try setting

id3_default_charset

(e.g. id3_default_charset=cp1251 in your ~/.cmus/rc).
